Bunkers for pellets

Pellet bins: what are they and what are they used for

A bunker for a solid fuel boiler is equipment used to store and load fuel fed into the boiler using a screw mechanism. Such a device allows you to accurately, in portions, supply the required amount of fuel without damaging it.

The use of the hopper significantly increases the duration of the boiler operation on one fuel load (more than 60 hours). The hopper also protects the fuel from moisture.

What types of fuel can be used

The main type of fuel for solid fuel boilers with automatic feeding is pellets - cylindrical granules pressed under high pressure from natural raw materials of plant origin. The raw material for their production can be bark, sawdust, wood chips, other logging waste, agricultural waste (straw, corn stalks, sunflower husks, etc.).

The heating equipment manufacturer ALTEP offers to buy a pellet bunker and eliminate the need to regularly add fuel to the boiler. It can be either a large bunker for sawdust, wood chips, which are mainly used for industrial solid fuel boilers with automatic feeding, or smaller options for domestic use.

The main characteristics

Bunkers for solid fuel boilers ALTEP are compact equipment, easy to use and install. The fuel supply system is equipped with a screw (spiral), which is located in the pipe leading from the hopper to the boiler.

In working condition, it captures the required portion of pellets and delivers it directly to the combustion point. The whole process is fully automated and does not require your intervention.

The volume of the bunker for a solid fuel boiler is from 0.3 to 20 m (or at the request of the client). The period of autonomous operation of the boiler depends on its volume: an average bunker for a domestic boiler can provide a fuel supply for 3-7 days. The ALTEP bins are adapted for left and right-hand placement relative to the boiler.

The ALTEP boiler fuel supply tank has several advantages:

Made of high quality materials;Modern powder paint protects the bunker body from corrosion; The possibility of manufacturing hoppers according to individual customer orders;Ease of use.
Maintenance of the bunker for a solid fuel boilerThe bunker must be periodically cleaned of fine fuel residues to ensure uninterrupted and well-coordinated operation of the equipment throughout the heating season. To do this, the design of the ALTEP bunker with a torch burner in the lower part provides a special bucket where waste, dust, debris and fine fraction residues are collected.

Depending on the quality of the fuel, it must be emptied about once every two months (if the pellet is dry and of high quality, then such a manipulation can be carried out less often).

At the end of the heating season, it is necessary to completely empty the bunker of fuel residues, clean the ladle and grate located at the bottom of the bunker. The pellet residue is also removed from the auger manually. At the end of the season, the bunkers of solid fuel boilers with a retort burner type must also be freed from fine fraction fuel.
